Alber Elbaz earns points for the strangest new project: it was announced recently that the Lanvin designer has teamed up with a Taiwanese craftsman to create a series of miniature porcelain dolls wearing signature looks from his collection. The figurines, which are hand-painted and decked in stilettos, are limited edition pieces (only 800 will be made of each) and will cost 250 euros, or approximately CDN$360, each.

Kenneth Cole is another designer involved in a fun project. He will be playing himself on an “Ugly Betty” episode airing in October, and will be shown being honoured at a Black & White Ball thrown by the fictional Meade family. It appears that art is imitating life, as Cole will be awarded the AMY award at January’s YMA Geoffrey Beene Fashion Scholarship Dinner.

Of course, the upcoming Spice Girls reunion tour has been on everyone’s lips, and according to FashionWatch.com, Donatella Versace has been tapped to design exclusive outfits for the group, giving each performer a distinctive look based on her unique personality. Considering that Baby just had a baby and Posh is well, more posh than ever, it looks like Donatella’s got her work cut out for her.
