Archipelagos

Archipelagos (or the band formerly known as Dukes of the Archipelago) play fiery, fervent indie rock out of Montreal. Since recording their debut, Battles & Scars, in early 2007, the Archipelagos have been touring all over Canada.

Citing the Flaming Lips, the National, and Okkervil River as influences, the Archipelagos’s sound consists of frontman Jesse LeGallais’ emotionally-driven wails over foot-stomping, rhythmic guitars. Both singles, “Battles and Scars” and “Throw it on the Fire,” contrast between very stark, withdrawn moments and powerful crescendos with horns blazing. Actually, both of these singles are very reminiscent of early Modest Mouse as well.

Before recording their sophomore album, Archipelagos is heading out across Canada for the summer. Witness their honest alt-rock under the sun. For a complete list of tour dates, visit Archipelagos’ MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/dukesofthearchipelago.
