For those of you who were born to shop, Seoul is the city for you. Dongdaemun is the place to find multiple-storey buildings full of anything and everything you could imagine, and street stalls are open around the clock. Though this area of Seoul isn't well known for upscale shopping, count it as a just-for-fun excursion. More affluent shopping can be found in three really great areas: Kangnam, Myeongdong and Apgujeong. If trinkets are what you're looking for, head to Insadong.  Not only can you find neat traditional works of art, but you can also experience the folk feel of the country while you're there.

Right around the corner from Isadong, you can continue to experience Korean customs by visitng Kyungbokgeong Palace. The grounds are open all day, so you can wander around for hours. You might even witness the changing of the guard. On the same grounds, you will find The National Folk Museum of Korea, which encapsulates the story of Korean culture in colourful and interesting displays.

To fully experience Seoul, make sure to try some of the local cuisine while you’re there.
