Forget about the padded ‘80s power suit and banish your memories of unflattering knits, the shoulder emphasis this season is sure to highlight your waist and demand attention. Done by giving structured and architectural cuts to coats or by inflating the shoulder of a blouse, these looks are a welcome change.

Perhaps one of the most innovative ways to boost your figure is seen in Andrew Majtenyi’s collection, done with the addition of flower detailing high above the shoulder. Taking a subtle approach was Arthur Mendonca with slightly raised sleeves on a crisp double breasted jacket. Lucian Matis offered up puffy, short sleeved blouses and built-up shoulders on a sexy jacket. Other designers who got it right are Zobran Dobric, Thieves, and of course, the label most recognized for architecture, Balenciaga.
