Stuck
Canada/USA, 2007, 85 min

If you were ever questioning the whereabouts of American Pie actress Mena Suvari, no further. Suvari stars as a ghetto fabulous (cornrows and all), party hard nurse in the Stuart Gordon film Stuck. The film is loosely based on a true story and follows Suvari’s character Brandi and Tom (Stephen Rea), as they struggle through one awful day. As they approach the end of the day, Tom finds himself newly homeless and wandering the streets, and Brandi’s popping pills at the local alcohol establishment. The characters eventually encounter each other when Tom is struck by Brandi’s car and becomes, literally, stuck in her windshield. After a series of yelps, screams, and lots of blood, Brandi decides to take off with the evidence. She drives away and then proceeds to hide the man, still firmly lodged in her window, in her garage. As expected, chaos ensues.

Stuck is filled with mayhem, gore, and hilarity, which is mostly directed at the poor acting skills of both Suvari and Rea. Even with the bad acting and trite dialogue, the film does a good job of showcasing the egocentrism and oblivion in society. Stuck is entertaining, unconventional, and you are sure to find yourself rooting for revenge at the end.
