Feminine, earthy, and romantic! Vancouver fashion designer Angela Chen studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York before launching her collection, Orange by Angela Chen, in 2007. Just off the LG Fashion Week runway, the Spring 2011 collection is the most defined one yet.
Inspired by the romantic movie, The Blue Lagoon, the shades of light blue, dove grey, white, and black flowing dresses are perfect for a warm breeze on a Tahitian beach (or just about anywhere).

So dramatic. So artsy. So beautiful.
Made by hand from locally sourced materials, Vancouverite Terri Portraz is the talented woman behind Larry Designs (www.wearelarry.com). Known for artfully crafting oversized scarves, the line now also includes jewelry and accessories, using techniques like weaving, macramé, and nautical tying.
The latest collection, Lobird Road, will be presented in Vancouver at the Grace Gallery (1898 Main Street) on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 8-11pm.

Vancouver Community College (VCC) will be hosting their annual fashion gala, Fiat Mode XXIII, on September 29, 2010 at the Rocky Mountaineer Station, located at 1755 Cottrell Street in Vancouver, BC.
After placing graduates at esteemed design houses like Oscar de la Renta, the VCC show is a great place to see the future of Vancouver’s fashion industry.
This year, twenty-one graduates are preparing to highlight pieces from their collection. Students have driven design by inspiration. Take for example Karen Niven, whose designs were inspired by Manhattan in the 1950s, and Blake Hyland, whose collection is about people, places, and things.
Support the budding design community by attending the show on September 29 – doors open at 7pm and the evening gala begins at 8pm. Tickets are $35 and $25 for students. Find tickets online at www.vcc.ca/fashionshow/.
