Ever since New York City’s Magnolia Bakery appeared in Sex and the City, cupcakes have become the new cutie patootie snack. Since the show, cupcake shops have been sprouting all over major North American cities. I have been to NYC every summer in the past three years and have stopped to grab my cupcakes every time.

Montrealers, why go out of your way when you can have it in the best area of Montreal –the Plateau? I stumbled upon Petits Gateaux, a very charming yet trendy cupcake boutique, and decided to purchase a fancy pink box. It was like heaven in my mouth. I would say it is equivalent to Magnolia’s. It is the perfect dessert to bring to your friend’s dinner, give to the host of a party, to your mom or grandma, or to impress your in-laws!

Petits Gâteaux cultivates the memory’s sweet tooth with cupcakes in all sorts including chocolate and banana cream. It may not be a delicate mille-feuille, but it’ll remind you of better days.
