Young People Fucking

The only thing that fucks sex up are the processes of fucking itself. Young People Fucking, by first-time feature director Martin Gero, is a witty and unapologetic Canadian film centred on this tried-and-true paradigm. The film follows four couples and one threesome as they each embark on an instance of memorably derailed sex.

First, there is “The Couple,” Abby and Andrew (played by Kristen Booth and Josh Dean), trying to spice up their stale love life. Then there is “The Friends,” Matt and Kristen (played by Aaron Abrams and Carly Pope). Next, “The Exes” Mia and Eric (Sonja Bennett and Josh Cooke) try to mask their feelings for one another, and “The First Date,” where playboy Ken (Callum Blue) comes clean with his date Jamie (Diora Baird). Finally, there is “The Roommates,” Dave and Gord (Peter Oldring and Ennis Esmer), who decide to have a threesome with Gord’s girlfriend, Inez (Natalie Lisinska).

The one thing holding all five of these stories together is the promise of fucking and the ultimate disappointment of sex. This 90-minute film debuted at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews. Catch Young People Fucking when it is released nationwide on April 18, 2008.
