Philip Sparks

It’s really not a surprise that talented menswear designer Philip Sparks was valedictorian of his Fashion Arts program at Seneca College and won numerous awards. Since finishing school, Sparks has quickly become an important element of menswear fashion in Canada.

His spring 2008 collection is inspired by Dutch landscapes and relaxing summer days by the water. The slightly geeky yet modern version of a 1940’s man getting ready to take his woman out to dance the Lindy Hop is the vibe that exudes from this line. Light coloured pin-stripe suits and short sets are paired with white and red plaid collared shirts and bow ties.

Sparks has definitely delivered once again with the excitement that famous designers like Marc Jacobs bring to us, but it was the shoes that really caught GLOSS’s attention. This spring, Town Shoes has collaborated with Philip Sparks to create the first Canadian designer-branded shoe collection with deck shoes, leather sneakers, and monk strap loafers.

Philip Sparks’ spring menswear collection is available in Toronto at Gotstyle, Sydney’s, and UPC Boutique, and the first-ever footwear line is available at Town Shoes this spring.
