Winter May Cry

Ladies, shiver no more. Sacrificing your warmth to look good is a thing of the past. The Mountain Equipment Co-Op (or MEC for short) should be your one stop shop for the latest gear to arm yourself against our cold Canadian winters. Think of MEC as the Lululemon of winter fashion, revitalizing an age old-stereotype into the sleek modern era.

Say goodbye to bulky mittens, swallowing oversized coats and large knit sweaters that don’t flatter your figure, and say hello to your inner snow bunny.

Here are a couple of pieces that will keep your buns warm.

SlipStream Jacket – A hoodie originally conceived for mountain climbing, this baby is lined with high-quality fleece, is slightly water and wind proof, and is durable as heck. It’s a slim cut and fits close to the body, and acts as a great mid layer to wear over your shirt and under your coat. $110.

Expedition Stretch Long Johns – We know; the words long johns are enough of a turn off but don’t knock this one just yet. If tights were your thing this past season, you can carry on the look with these lovelies and still keep warm and dry. $37.

A winter coat containing goose down is your best bet, and the higher the grade (800 being top notch), the better insulation you’ll have from the cold. $100-$640.

For hats, pick the ones that are lined with fleece. That extra layer is not only cushiony, it’s warm too. $10-$35.

Buying clothes made in Canada? Priceless.
