Six Degrees of a Smoky Eye

Everyone has a different opinion of what exactly a Smoky eye is.  Here you’ll find instructions to create an eye with just a little smoke to a full-blown fire.

1st degree: Use a cream-colored shadow all over the lid and up to the brow bone as a base. Rim your eyes with a dark-colored pencil. Using a smudger or Q-tip, gently smudge the liner to create a subtle hint of a smoky eye. Apply mascara.

2nd degree: Apply a grey shadow to the lid.

3rd degree: Add depth to the eye by using a grey or black shadow in the crease.

4th degree: Use another color like brown or purple instead of black or grey, to make the eye seem less intense, but still smoky.

5th degree: Extend the dark shadow under the eye to enhance the “come hither” stare.

6th degree: Highlight the brow bone with a shimmery white shadow and blend with black shadow all around. Don’t forget the false lashes!
