HIGH BROW

At Toronto's The Brow House, shaping eyebrows is de regieur for the devoted staff. "Brows are an afterthought service," says owner Kira Thompson, who was annoyed with the myriad of services at spas and decided to hone her skills as a makeup artist focusing on brows.

"Eyebrows make or break a face," Thompson says, "and 95 per cent of the time, they’re done wrong."

From the badly shaped to the barely there, any brow emergency is welcome to this quaint East End salon marked with umbrella lights, bay windows, and glossy hardwood floors.

After an assessment, where Thompson says she envisions the client's ideal shape, the removal ensues with an assortment of tweezing, waxing (with chocolate wax, no less), tinting, and shading. Girlfriend chatter occurs in concert with a quick lesson on eyebrow shape, like fullness and arch positioning.

Get your brows into rehab, quick. Shaping starts at $20.
