one big party

Being a Montrealer and avid partygoer, one of my keys to surviving the harsh winter is remembering that Grand Prix weekend is in the not-so-distant future.  We traipse through the freezing cold, day dreaming of the time when our short shorts come out and four-o’clock sangria becomes a daily must.  Formula 1 brings more then just roaring hot engines to Montreal's streets. The annual weekend attracts car connoisseurs, celebrities, and party chasers, making this event a hot ticket both on the track and in the clubs.

On Thursday June 7th, I stopped by Time Supper Club to kick off the festivities. Although a tad pretentious for my taste, DJ Steve Aoki spun a fantastic set and got me dancing high on the catwalk.  The real debauchery came on Friday, when Buona Notte hosted an unbelievable party, featuring former supermodel DJ Nelly Skylor, who combined popular party tunes with a girly, sex kitten edge. Globe Ristorante was on my agenda for Saturday night, where I munched on delicious seared tuna with an avocado and olive relish.  Although the weekend is crammed with high society fun, beware the hefty price tag.  Hot spots double their prices, making the nonstop party a credit card nightmare.  This ostentatious summer solstice comes only once a year, so save up, glam up, and hit the races hard.
