With a successful tattoo career and reality show under her studded belt, Kat Von D has decided to use her creative, eccentric edge to create a new line of makeup. She launched the new Hollywood glam inspired collection in conjunction with Sephora, and it features a number of different products that are sure to please both the ink-adorned leather clad badasses and the ballerina flat wearing preppies.

The collection includes only a few shadow pallets that each hold eight vibrant, deep shades which are ideal for dramatic looks, including the ever popular smoky eye. The pallets are cheap, versatile and include a range of colours that will carry you from day to night and that should suit most skin tones. The line also features a number of liquid eyeliners in atypical colours: burnished antique gold, and a matte black with silver micro-glitter called “Black Metal Love” are just a few.

All the colours featured in the line are in sync with its pin-up appeal and the line only features four lipstick shades that all fall in relatively the same section of the colour spectrum: they’re all a shade of red varying from blood to bright crimson. If you’re certain you can’t pull off bold red lip shades, then one of the sheer lip glosses might be better suited.

The whole collection was personally approved and crafted by Kat, and her personal flare shines through. All the packaging is imprinted with the rose, one of her favourite tattoo designs. You don’t need a full sleeve of tattoos to wear Kat Von D’s makeup line, but if you’re looking for an added edge, it’s sure to give it to you.

Its final “plus”: unlike sleeves of tattoos, it’s easy to remove.
